In this passage you will read and understand America’s hard beginning as the thirteen colonies and how it would later be known as the United States. It was a rough start with battles during and even after the war. It was a hard life but they made it gracefully. America first started in 1620, when a ship, called the Mayflower, transported English Puritans, or Pilgrims, from Plymouth, England to the New World. It was a rough ride, and nearly half of the Pilgrims didn’t even make it. They would end up starting small in the New World with very little land and very little amount of resources. Then they would later make peace with the Native Americans, who give trade goods and show traditions. America would later want to declare independence from Britain and later start a war. The document was written by Thomas Jefferson and signed by a lot of very important people such as, John Hancock, Samuel Adams, William Thornton, and ect. The in 1775 a war would break out between the American colonies and Britain. After the brutal war, the colonists have won, and their independence. But even during the war, they would create an agreement, called the Articles of Confederation. It was rough at first, it could not organize a central government, which did not decide laws. All it could do is to create Congress, but it would only have little power and not even enough that they would advise the separate the thirteen colonies.
