Andrew Carnegie was an incredible businessman who revolutionized the way steel is produced in the United States. He was born on November 25, 1835 in Dunfermline, Scotland and eventually moved to the United States where he started work at the railroad (Andrew Carnegie). By 1889, he owned Carnegie Steel Corporation which at the time was the largest steel company in the world. In 1901, Carnegie sold his business and worked to help others by establishing the Carnegie-Mellon University (Andrew Carnegie). Andrew Carnegie is well known today for his innovations in the steel industry and his contributions to society. Andrew Carnegie grew up in a family that thought learning was very important. At age 13, he moved to Pennsylvania and worked in a factory.
