In the United States between 1800 and 1850, two political parties arose in the Jacksonian Era; the Whigs and the Democrats. Both political parties perceived national identity in different ways. The Whigs, did not favor presidency because they were national republicans. However, the Democrats, lead by Andrew Jackson supported the presidency. During Andrew Jackson’s presidency, he made very bold decisions as presented in the documents. Some say Jackson´s ruling was more tyrannical than democratic because Jackson had a lot of control as a president. Due to Jackson's strict actions such as the Nullifications of Tariff of Abominations, the destruction of the Second National Bank, and the Indian Removal, the two political parties were in unsteady terms. The Supreme Court declared that Georgia has no right to take away their laws and rights because the land was given to the Cherokees. However, Andrew Jackson wanted more valuable land which sparked the idea of the Indian Removal. He also encouraged the Indian removal in document 2, because he wanted to separate the contact of Indians and whites and he insists that it is beneficial to the Indians because they would be able to be independent from United States. The Whigs party especially Henry Clay, opposed of the Indian Removal. The Indian Removal was somewhat hesitant because they sought some of the Indians as noble savages and that they were civilized by dignity but they were not a real civilization. However, in document 4, the council declared that the Cherokees were not part of the union and so they are aliens to be removed to the western boundaries of United States. The Indians traveled among the Trail of Tears, where they cried and suffered the cold and harsh conditions along the way. At the end of the trail, around 1/9 of the Native Indians
