As the President of the United States, Andrew Jackson was able to accomplish many of his goals using unorthodox methods. He came into office wanting to reduce the public debt and tariffs which he successfully did. However, some of the actions that he did undermined the Constitution. One of the first actions he did after being elected was replacing former officeholder with those loyal to him, he created a spoils system by hiring all his friends. Jackson made it possible for the removal of Native Americans from their land. By ignoring Judge John Marshall’s injunction which was meant to stop the removal, he committed an unconstitutional action. He did whatever he wanted. He made decisions that led up to the Trail of Tears which resulted in deaths
