I don’t think Batman should kill The Joker because it would not be in Batman’s best interest. Now, hear me out. It is easy to name off differences between Batman and The Joker. To me it is even easier to find similarities between the two. Some similarities would include: dark pasts, no real family, creatures of the night, followers and supporters, suffering from depression and PTSD. I personally feel that they are often misunderstood. We know much of Batman’s history: his childhood, his family, how he came to be Batman. But we know nothing about The Joker’s past, other than the obvious signs of abuse and abandonment. Whether that is the death penalty or six months in federal prison. But look at all that has happened the past year or so under the subject of criminal justice. There have been shootings, fires, torture; all from people that feel that someone was treated unfairly. They may have been innocent, and tried as guilty. If you go and burn down a police station as a revolt to prove a point, the only point you are making is that you should be the one on trial. If we have this much trouble in the real world, just imagine what some of the supervillains in Gotham would do. They idolize The Joker. It would surely be the end of Batman, and possibly The Justice League. If the question is, “Does The Joker deserve to die?”, I would have to say yes. But the question asked is “Should Batman kill The Joker?”. To this one, I say no. Simply because Batman works too hard and has been through enough. If he kills The Joker, he would be taken down by The Joker’s followers. Then he would die. Who would defend Gotham City after that?
