“The man with fewer than 3 years left to live.” Bill O’Reilly starts off his book Killing Kennedy with these few words to attract his readers to the story. Bill O’Rielly grabs the readers and keeps them engaged till the end leaving suspensful scenes that lead to the climax of this story where both Lee Harvey Oswald and JFK storys meet up in one place. This book is very different from any other history book because the assassination is known around the world, it was the most recent United States President assissination, it wasnt that long ago either. The book begins with JFK’s presidential election and has a flashback of the first time he became a leader when PT-109 sank and he had to save his crew members. The book told the readers later on about some difficult situations JFK had with communism, one being his worst moment being the Bay of Pigs and his best moment being The Cuban Missle Crisis. The story tells us about JFK's personal life as well as his dark side.It told us that Kenndy was a very sick man. Killing Kennedy also talked about the Assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald. It told the readers what he used to be, which was a sharpshooter in the military. LHO was in Soviet Russia when he desided to go back home with a woman he is in love with. Once he got to America he immediately started to dislike it because he wasnt known at all. He grew to hate the anti-communist people in America. LHO became unstable, doing craxy things. The stories of JFK and LHO eventually met up in Texas where JFK was going around the United States promoting himself for the next election and LHO went to Texas after making the attempt to go to Cuba. In the book O’Reilly was tellin the readers about the security of JFK. While telling the readers, O’Reilly stated,”The easiest place to attack the president is outside the White House.”(139). This gives readers who dont know about JFK’s assassination suspence knowing that its going to happen sometime when the president is out, but when? For a second example on how setting/place was used as suspence was when JFK was our promoting his relection. JFK has been to many states, giving speeches, shaking hands, but there was one state that stood out. Texas was known to not like JFK at all, so much so that JFK’s friends and assiociates warned him not to go saying,”Texas is not Kennedy terriory”(211-212). This is when suspense came into place letting the readers know that theres something could potentially bad happen to JFK in Texas. With many suspensful lines in the story, one of the most suspensful ones are towards readers who dont know anything about what happened. That makes the setting/place suspenceful because to that means the readers knows something is gonna happen, but what exactly is gonna
