With Booker T. Washington wanting equality from all races and wanted to do it and a peaceful way when he stated “If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else” ( Booker T. Washington). Booker T. Washington would want to make friends with the people to discriminate them and thought that they should be allies to help break the racial barrier. Booker T. Washington wanted to have equality throughout all races but wanted them to change who they are and do what they need to do to be accepted by the other races and become allies, but knew their was gonna be racism and they were going to be discriminated but at the same time he knew that it was going to take a long time and not right away. Booker T. Washington was born a slave on a Virginia plantation on April 5, 1856. As a boy Booker T. washington would have to balance school and work by traveling miles and miles to go to school and then get back for work and by doing this in early childhood he would show determination throughout his life. Booker T. washington was a Educator and a Civil rights activist and was known as a national figure because of his speeches that he would perform in front of predominantly white crowds. Booker T. Washington had an interesting stand on African American equality by believing and telling other african Americans that they should accept their unequal position in society. Washington and W.E.B. were very similar but they are also very different in some ways. Booker T. Washington was a man who thought that he would be able to change the ways of discrimination and racism in the long run and to start at that day and age by believing that you will need to change your own ways to become allies with the other races and by having peaceful protest. Booker T. Washington was openly supportive of African Americans taking a “Back seat” to the white people to make them happy and could end the racism and segregation and discrimination. Booker T. Washington told the African Americans that they need to accept their unequal stance in society but will change later in the future, he also said that they need to give up their political rights and voting rights for their economic rights because he believed that it will be more important for the African American people. W.E.B. Du Bois had a completely different stand on demolishing racism, discrimination and segregation and W.E.B would see Booker T. Washington as a traitor to the African americans because he felt like he was giving them what they want. W.E.B was an educator and a voice for the African Americans and wanted them to take a stand for what they believed in, and would often criticise Washington for not standing up for equality for African Americans as it was granted in the 14th amendment.W.E.B Du Bois would think that if you have to follow the rules and everything then why can't African
