Buddy Rich was born on September 30, 1917 in Brooklyn, New York with the birth name Bernard Rich. From early on in life, Rich displayed extreme talent not only as a drummer, but as a performer in general. Rich could also sing and dance but drumming was his natural talent as he learned how to play by himself with no formal lessons.
