Lilliann Hays Ms. Rushfeldt English, Block C February 26, 2024 Violent Concentration Camps in Germany I can’t believe that concentration camps were actually a thing. Just the thought of it gives me nightmares. All of the gruesome torture that happened in these concentration camps was absolutely horrible! These people had to go through such cruel treatment just because they didn’t worship the right God, and that is just terrible. In Germany during World War II many of the Jewish people died or survived while trying to escape imprisonment for worshiping another God. They didn’t really have the ability to learn in the camps because they were forced to do the same amount of work that the adults had to do. There were some children who brought their textbooks to the camps with them. Most of the time they were not able to get educated at the camps. What is the Chart of Prisoner Markings? The chart of prisoner markings was the way that the SS identified and counted the prisoners they kept. It was like a badge that they put on the prisoners to identify who was who. They needed to be able to identify who a person was, just in case something happened to them. How are concentration camps used? Concentration camps were used for things like forced labor camps, transit camps, and death camps, they were exclusively built for mass murder. There were things like gas chambers, and farms, in order to wear people out, which is how they got so malnourished. Why did they do what they did? They did it because the Jews did not worship Adolf Hitler like he was a god. Instead, they worshiped another god. Hitler wanted them to only worship him and not some other god, because he thought of himself as a god. How was their daily life? Their daily life was very depressing, repetitive, and filled with pain. They were forced to do cruel labor. Hard labor work includes farm work, and cooking. From doing all of the work that they were forced to do, many died from exhaustion. How were they chosen to live/work? They were chosen to live/work by how old they were. The older they get, the worse it can get. There are also certain camps where the younger you are the worse it gets, and the older you get the better it gets. If this ever happens in the future, I hope we are better prepared for it. We certainly never want this happening again.
