When Whitney was twenty-four years old, he entered Yale College, where he learned new concepts in science and applied arts, which was a way of calling technology. Then, after graduating from Yale in the fall of 1792, Whitney was disappointed twice in the promised teaching posts. After all of this, he was given a second offer, in Georgia, which was far from home. But he did befriend Catherine Greene (Eli Whitney). One of the reasons for the creation of the cotton gin was the problem in the South. The problem in the South was that it didn’t have enough cotton to meet the demands of England’s newly invented spinning and weaving machines. So, this made Whitney think of a solution to clean the green-seed cotton (Eli Whitney). Even if he had never seen raw cotton, Whitney realized that comb-like teeth of any sort were actually necessary. So, within days, he had a crude model already.
