In 1935, a man was born who unknowingly was about to change history. Elvis Presley a man of great dedication, who was later on to be known as “The King of Rock and Roll”. He had such a prodigious effect on society that he is still very well known today, 41 years after his death. According to President Carter, Elvis Presley's death deprives our country of a part of itself. He was unique, irreplaceable. More than 20 years ago, he burst upon the scene with an impact that was unprecedented and will probably never be equaled. He was from Tupelo, Mississippi. Starting in the mid- 1950’s he was featured on the radio, television, and the silver screen (“Elvis Presley”). When he was a kid, he received a guitar as a present for his birthday. Elvis played around with it almost every night and taught himself how to play. He was a very shy teen and didn't have a thought about performing any time in the near future. He didn't grow up privileged like the other stars. Elvis got married to a woman named Perscilla, and had a daughter.They were an average white family of the time. However, then Perscilla left two years and gained custody of their daughter, Lisa Marie, who she took with her. Additionally, he developed a drug problem leading to bad health and a significant weight problem. He was hospitalized for his health for a while, but that didn't scare him. As soon as they recovered and left the hospital, he prepared for his last concert in India. Despite his recovery at the hospital, his drug problem hit one last time.
