The term ancient greece refers to the time between 800 bc and 500 bc, in greece and the islands of the aegean sea. Ancient greece provided long lasting contributions in many fields. Philosophy and science were two of the most important contributions to western civilization in ancient greece.

Science was one of the most important contributions to western civilization.
In astronomy, the Greeks formed the idea that the sun was 300 times larger than the earth ,the universe was made up of atoms, and the ancient Greeks calculated the size of the Earth. In physics, the lever and the pulley was invented with a force pump that evolved later into a steam engine. There was also a big contribution in medicine as well. His Socratic method, was the foundation for Western systems of logic and philosophy. One of his famous quotes was: “The unexamined life is not worth living.” which meant, a life without thinking things thoroughly, shouldn't be a life at all. Plato was a student of Socrates, who had many philosophical interests like ethics and politics Plato was commonly known for his metaphysical and epistemological ideas. One of his most famous works is the Theory of Ideas. Things like virtue, justice, beauty, and goodness, would not be possible unless people had direct knowledge of things in existence, in Plato's opinion. Ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle was born in 384 B.C. in Stagira, Greece. When he was 17, he joined Plato’s Academy. In 338, he taught Alexander the Great. In 335, Aristotle started his own school,in Lyceum,Athens, One of His main focuses in his philosophy was his concept of logic. Aristotle’s main focus was to come up with a “l process of reasoning that would allow man to learn every conceivable thing about reality.” One of aristotle's famous quotes was “Since human reason is the most god-like part of the human nature, a life Guided by human reason is superior to any other, for man, this is the life of reason is the distinguishing characteristic of human beings.” which basically means he believed structure was very important to human nature.Government was also another part of philosophy in Ancient greece.”our plan of government favors the many instead of the few:that is why it is called a democracy” this style of government was democracy,which means that everyone has a fair chance of ruling in the government,not just high
