lasting around three hundred and fifty years, the Greek culture greatly influenced an innumerable amount that contributed to what we know now as Western Civilization. Many of their views are still projected in today's society. For example, the alphabet, democracy, technology and much more. In my opinion, next to democracy, the Olympics was one of their most powerful contributions. The Greeks influence was so strong because they were the first to try new things. Instead of using more traditional policies, they developed new systems and games that immensely influenced the world we live in today. Greece, which rose around 772 B.C. was the first territory that put politics in the hands of the people. We are also exposed to Greek Mythology from a young age. Before developing a more logic based system for natural phenomenons, these myths were how they explained things such as love, nature, and war. Most importantly, the greek culture is why we have the Olympic games every four years. The greek held this game in honor of their thunder god, zeus. Now a days Almost every country plays a part in the olympic games, which is a huge deal. Although we do not hold these games for the same reasons they once did, we do incorporate some of the games they once played.
