On February 9, 2009 an event that had parents and children fear of everyday. On this day Haleigh Cummings disappeared. Haleigh Cummings was a five year old girl living with her father, her younger brother, and her father’s girlfriend. While Haleigh’s father was at work, her father’s girlfriend, Misty Croslin, was babysitting the children. Misty Croslin first stated that all three of them were in the same bed together, but then she changed her story that she and Haleigh’s little brother were in the bed, while Haleigh was on a mattress on the floor. However, the main suspect, was Misty Croslin. Misty Croslin was a seventeen year old girl and was in a relationship with Haleigh’s father, Ronald Cummings. Misty Croslin was the main suspect because she was the only one babysitting the children. Also, during multiple interviews, Misty stared ahead. This was a sign of her using drugs. Many years later Misty Croslin was arrested for drug-trafficking. The lack of evidence made this case very difficult to understand. The only thing the investigators could rely on was the alibis given. However, there has been new evidence that indicates that Haleigh’s disappearance had something to do with an Indiana Corporation. The FBI had a lead that Haleigh Cummings was transported out of state by a corporation called Specialized Investigative Consultants, Inc. There is a speculation that they were posing as a church group and all of them were caught on video. There was never a trial on the Haleigh Cummings case, but they had theories, suspects, and investigations. Local and federal law enforcement participated in the search for Haleigh Cummings.
