Henry Ford And his Effects On American History
Henry Ford was an influential figure of the nineteen twenties who changed America forever. Ford changed many things including the assembly line, the five-day workweek, car culture, and the evolution of our towns. These effects shaped America and helped our communities evolve over the year. Overall Ford completely changed America throughout the years.
One of the significant influences that Henry Ford had on America was the assembly line. To elaborate, another effect Ford had on the American people was his influence on the working class: “His influence on helping the working class” (Paydarfar). Before Ford cars were only for the elite. Due to his influence ads became available to everyone. Another example of Ford's influence was the change from cars being lavish to them being more utilitarian. “the epitome of a no-frills utility vehicle--light, sturdy, plain, stripped of accessories, and selling for the low price of $825.” (Gartman). This change to more utility made these cars extremely cheap. This significantly impacted the working class as people could now commute to work and back much quicker than in the past. Overall Ford was extremely influential and changed how cars are used in day-to-day life
Overall, Henry Ford reshaped American life. He was an early adopter of the assembly line, the adoption of the five-day workweek, and the mass production of cars.
