The rise in prosperity in America was characterized by growing consumerism. During this time, this period was famous for being called the Roaring 20s. There was new products, inventions, and innovation in the areas of communication, transportation and manufacturing. For example, Henry Ford was a leader in production and pay. He and his team used the assembly line to speed up production for the creation of automobiles. In order to keep selling his cars, Henry Ford came up with his innovation of the five-dollar work day. This let his employees become his consumers and led the economy to transition into being driven by consumer dollars. People bought automobiles and other products by buying on credit. Industrialists though it necessary to encourage
