How Did Jill Elliott Use Eschool As Our Student Information System?

In order to learn more about our Student Information System and EMIS I asked our testing coordinator, Jill Elliott, who works in the district’s Central Office to fill out a Google Form answering some of the questions on the district’s SIS and EMIS. Jill stated that in Gahanna we use “eSchool as our Student Information System. eSchool is a Sungard product and is a part of a suite of programs that we use.” I was aware that we used eSchool as our Student Information System but did not realize that it was part of a larger group of programs we utilize within our district. The other products from this company are used on a regular basis, but I did not realize they were all connected under one company. The other programs offered include PerformancePLUS

Both of these programs help aid in instruction, but especially PerformancePLUS because it shows the test results for students from kindergarten to present day, including standardized tests, common assessments, and reading benchmark assessments given throughout each year. This data can be extremely helpful for teachers and knowing what a student is capable of and where to reach him/her from day one onward. The fact that PerformancePLUS and IEPPLUS were linked to eSchool was new information to me and something that I feel helps further drive instruction because all of the systems are linked to one another. A student’s demographic information is linked to a child’s test scores and even linked to an individualized education plan if one is in place. This knowledge can help a teacher and administrator get a more accurate picture of the student and even subgroups of students prior to testing and at the start of each school year. Furthermore, Jill stated that administrators, teachers, and parents all have access to eSchool but on varying levels.
