The Two Treatises of Government and its influence on The Constitution John Locke was an English philosopher during the sixteen and seventeen hundreds. His works were related to political liberalism and empiricism. In 1689, John Locke introduced the Two Treatises of Government. His book focused on the American Revolution, where he introduced ideas to make America a better place to live and flourish. He talks about law, liberalism and democracy. A hundred years after, the U.S Constitution was written in September 1787 by the Philadelphia Convention. It was ratified in July of 1788, replacing the Articles of Confederation. The U.S Constitution was said to be influenced by John Locke’s second Treatise on Government which has similar laws and ideas on how the New Republic (America) should run. In his second treatise, he talks about liberty. In the 1st Amendment it states that “People have the freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly and the right to petition Government.” This law helps America because it is less likely to cause disagreement or chaos in a country where government and the people can work …show more content…

When a person turns eighteen years old in the United States, you are considered legal. It better helps America because they are more people that are able to vote each year. And when they vote it helps to pick the right leader with the good qualities to lead America into one of the most thriving and flourished
