Reputation is a big theme in both of the books. In The Crucible and The Great Gatsby the 2 main characters both care about their reputation. In both books rumors going around caused a big impact that could have resulted in the lost of the reputation. The reputation ruined both lives and resulted in death. In the Great Gatsby the main character Jay Gatsby really cared about his reputation. He wanted to go all out. He had to have the best parties. He even changed his name from James to Jay.
