How Did Joseph Stalin Impact Society

Along the historical time of events, leaders and governments have put effort to exercise power and to control their people. Among the main leaders, two are very important, who are Louis the 14th of France & Joseph Stalin of the Soviet Union. The steps taken by these leaders and their government styles had made a major impact on their people and society. The forced collectivization also led to widespread famine across the Soviet Union that killed millions. He expanded the powers of the secret police, encouraged citizens to spy on one another and had millions of people killed or sent to the Gulag system of forced labor camps. He was the subject of flattering artwork, literature and music, and his name became part of the Soviet national anthem. His government also controlled the Soviet media. Stalin has impacted society greatly. He set the stage for the region on how they view women in their society, something generally unheard of in this location of the globe in the period. He brought many changes to the culture of the Russian people of not staying rural people but as industrialized people. Stalin impacted society on both sides of the spectrum; the negative side where the millions of innocent people that he murdered to the positive side of the many social and health changes that he influenced. This is testament to how the Soviet Union was capable of staying in power for nearly 40 years past his death in 1953.
