Joseph Stalin was born in a poor family on December 18,1878. As a young man he was known because he had been involved in revolutionary politics and criminal activities. He grew being an only child. During his childishness he suffered family problems. He had an alcoholic father while his mother was a laundress. As a grownup Stalin was a master of political trickery. He used his position as secretary to put his supporters on the Central Committee of the party
One of the main reasons why Stalin rises to power was his skill of manipulating people. In the 1924, after the death of Lenin. There where only 4 contestant that where Leon Trotsky, Lev Kamenev, Grigory Zinoiev and Stalin, to take control over Russia. Before Lenin´s death. Stalin pretended to be close to Lenin during his period. He prepared Lenin´s funeral that made a very good impression to the people. Leon Trotsky, Lev Kamenev, Grigory Zinoiev were the ones that could have took the power, the more preferable one to have the power for Lenin was Trotsky. Stalin wanted to became the leader of the party, so therefore he told Trotsky the wrong date of Lenin's funeral which shown a very bad impression from his part. He did that because he was worried that Trotsky would take him the power and he saw him as a threat.
