Rome: Engineering and Empire Rome is an empire beyond its time. Many Emperors came in with great feats and great failures. Some Emperors were vicious to their own people and others were all for the people and the betterment of nation. As Rome grew so did its knowledge of Engineering, and Architecture. The Romans even began to even understand Hydraulics, and built aqueducts. The Romans have even influenced our way of life. The first man behind the expansion of Rome is Julis Caesar. Julis Caesar was a dictator and was declared this at the age of 55. Caesar was a only in control for 5 years before being murdered by his associates. Caesar was known for conquering Gaul and Germania. While Caesar went to conquer Gaul he built a 4 football field long bridge across the Rhine River. Under Caesar the Clocaca Maxima and the forum were built. Roads were also invented which contributed to better travels and trades going faster. Julius Caesar set the path to the expansion of Rome. Following Julius Caesar is his adopted son Augustus. Under Augustus forums and Grand theaters where built. Augustus’ way of expanding the empire was conquering near by neighboring cities. Vespasian was the anti-Nero. Vespasian was a relaxed man and came though the military’s ranks. Vespasian was more concerned about the better of the empire through creative minds of architecture and engineering.
