In a world where you are chosen to go to war, Katniss Everdeen is forced to fight for her life in Suzanne Collins’ science fiction movie The Hunger Games. In Monica Hughes’ science fiction novel The Game a group of 10 teenagers get invited to play in the game and are left on a different planet to find a way to survive. In both The Hunger Games and The Game the characters have to fight to stay alive. By using tenacity, innovation, and creativity they can move from surviving to thriving. Tenacity can be described as the trait of determination. Tenacity was a needed skill in both The Game and The Hunger Games in order to survive. In The Game the group built a lock on page 22. “And the lock on the door is a mini-mouser.” The group showed tenacity when they built the lock because it shows their determination to be safe in the DA. In The Hunger Games Katniss tied herself to a tree to avoid falling while she slept. This showed her tenacity because she was determined to be safe while asleep. If the groups in The Hunger Games and The Game did not use tenacity their chances of survival would have decreased. …show more content…

Innovation influenced the outcome of The Hunger Games and The Game greatly. In The Game the group started working out on page 77. “And the first thing we should do is get in better shape.” The group showed innovation when they started working out because it was a new way of progressing in The Game. In The Hunger Games Rue showed Katniss that they can communicate through the Mockingjays to know that they are safe. This showed her innovation because they created a new way of contacting each other. If there was no innovation in either The Hunger Games or The Game, then the characters would have no way of
