The biggest influence in my life is Mrs. Linda Pelz. The first time I met her I was a scared little freshman. I was going into Health Science I a class that was primarily upperclassmen, which was extremely intimidating. Unlike other teachers, who started with the syllabus that first day, Mrs. Pelz had a substitute. She was on a cruise, but that did not stop her from suffocating us with work. She made a video tape introducing herself and giving us our first assignment. That's when I found out what this class was really about. Intrigued, I did all my work with such excitement. When Mrs. Pelz got back from her cruise, that is when the real fun kicked in. She taught in a way that completely clicked with me. I wanted to help people, and it made it ten times better that I loved the work as well. I went on to take Health Science II my sophomore year which also earned me the CTE Scholar award, along with some of my classmates. After that year with Mrs. Pelz I took an advanced class called Nursing Fundamentals. This was an even better year, we went to nursing homes and performed CNA work and to the hospital to work with actual nurses. In this class I studied hard and got my CNA. That was the last class I could take with Mrs. Pelz as my teacher, and it just so happened that she retired, that year as well. Saying goodbye to her was hard, but I knew I would be seeing her often after my junior year. She even promised to go to my graduation. This class I walked into as a freshman changed my life. It created an interest and a talent I never dreamed I could have. Mrs. Pelz changed my life in a serious way; she helped me decide what I wanted to do, and for that I am forever
