Juliet’s Influences In Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, Juliet encountered many predicaments where guidance was necessary. Many people helped raise her as well as help her make important decisions. Being a young teenager, Juliet was influenced greatly by the attitudes and actions around her. In the intense story of Romeo and Juliet, the young Juliet is impacted in her decisions by close people in her life including Capulet, the Nurse, and Romeo. Juliet’s father Lord Capulet has an important role in her life because of his position of the patriarch of the Capulet family. Because Lord Capulet believes Juliet will do anything he says, Juliet is impacted in her decisions. She provides motherly advice when necessary and guides Juliet through life. For example, the Nurse gives Juliet advice to marry Paris when being worried about being married to two men.Juliet’s actual mother tells her that she will not tell a soul, while the Nurse considers Juliet’s feelings and tells Juliet that Romeo is already banished. The Nurse is also present more often than Lady Capulet. The Nurse guides Juliet when trying to figure out if she should continue the relationship with Romeo. The Nurse gives her insight to follow her heart and continues on her opinion, “Then hie you hence to Friar Lawrence’s cell; there stays a husband to make you a wife” (2.5.67-68). The Nurse is telling Juliet to go to Friar Lawrence’s cell where Romeo is waiting to marry her. The last way the Nurse impacts Juliet’s life is by convincing Juliet that Paris is a suitable husband for her. For example, she promises Juliet that the marriage with Paris will be better than the one with Romeo. She also tells Juliet that Romeo is banished so there is no reason not to marry Paris. The Nurse was like a mother to Juliet and affected her love life
