The purpose of this paper was to discuss the impact that Mamie Till had on the Civil Rights Movement. Mamie had a huge impact on the Civil Rights Movement by essentially starting it. She used her son’s brutal death and beating to essentially start the Civil Rights Movement. She also would use her issue to united a lot of people, and combine many small movements into a large national and international movement. Finally she would also impact the Civil Rights Movement by inspiring many leaders including Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King Jr.. In each of the sections of this paper it will be explained exactly how Mamie accomplished all of this, and what her impact exactly meant. One of theses leaders would be Rosa Parks. Tim Tyson describes how this happened when he says “Rosa parks in montgomery heard T.R.M. Howard from mississippi talk at dexter memorial baptist church and she said four days later she was arrested and she said I thought about Emmett Till and I couldn’t move.”(2017). Mamie had already inspired two civil rights leaders Rosa Parks, and T.R.M. Howard. However this would prove to be a chain reaction. She had inspired Rosa Parks to refuse to give up her seat, and that would later push Jo Ann Robinson to make another important move. PBS.org displays how events played out when they write “the Women's Democratic Council, under Jo Ann Robinson, called for a citywide bus boycott and asked a young, 26-year-old minister to help.
