The Man that changed America “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” (Tabaka, 2016) A quote of wisdom from Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a man of wisdom. He fought for the Negro rights or black rights. Martin Luther King Jr. was a motivational person, not just to himself but the people around him. To begin with, Martin Luther King Jr. was just a boy from Atlanta, Georgia. He lived with his father Martin Luther King Sr, his mother Alberta Williams King, his older sister Christine King Farris, and his younger brother Alfred Daniel Williams King (History.com, 2009). He led this boycott after Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man and was arrested and put into jail (History.com, 2009). Also the one of the most important speeches that all Americans know is Martin Luther King Jr. “I have a Dream” speech. During the speech most reporters and anyone who would read his speech today would think this paragraph was the most powerful, “And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city. We will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual. “Free at last!
