During the late 1950’s and through the early 1970’s the Civil Rights Movement was coming into effect. There were many controversial events going on during this time period. Martin Luther King Jr had a great perspective on civil rights, while Malcolm X did also. These two men are known as some of the greatest men in history known for their speeches and what they took part in during the Civil Rights Movement.
Martin Luther King Jr was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. Martin Luther King Jr was born in a time when there was still segregation between white people and black people. He started the civil rights movement when he was only in his twenties. He worked as a minister in a church but later became a leader and a spokesperson. He tried to make it so black and white people could be equal.

Have you ever seen a white person just smirk when they see an African American? To this day there are still some people who think humans that have a different skin tone are not equal to those who are white. Back in the 1950’s America was filled with segregation, having separate bathrooms just for those whose skin was not white, including schools, and even busses. We have come a long way and thankfully most people treat the colored the same as they would anyone else, like a human being. With the help from the NAACP, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Rosa Parks, America has become a much more peaceful and equal nation.

Imagine the world without the Civil Rights Movement, more specifically, Martin Luther King Jr. He deserved better and fought little for himself. The people he fought for were the people of the world. People of all races, all genders, all shapes, and all sizes. King experienced racism in his earlier years of life and claimed he had always wanted to do something to make the world a fairer place for African Americans (Col). On the night Rosa Parks, a colored woman, was arrested for violating the Montgomery city code by not giving her seat to a white man, King met with the leader of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and other civil rights activists from the area so arrangements could be made for a citywide bus boycott (Biography.com Editors). In this meeting, he was elected to lead and be the official
