Mary Kay is one of the most interesting salesman in history. She inspired and motivated people of all walks of life while still being sensible to people. Ever since she was a little girl she has this can do attitude. Her history has inspired an abundant number of people. Mary Kay Ash has helped fuel the women’s rights movement by being able to understand the problems it presents. Her ability to influence and empower others has grown the economy and lead millions to improving themselves.
Mary Kathlyn Wagner was born in 1918 and grew up in Houston Texas. Growing up Mary Kay went through life changing events that helped her become the business giant in the future. She lived by the “can-do” spirit in her childhood years when faced with the challenges of taking care of her father. Her mother assisted in this hard time by telling her that she can do it and this helped develop her “praising to success” thought process even further. When she did reach adulthood, the attitude she had developed and honed would be passed on through her company to generations of business women.
In the early 60’s Mary Kay fell victim to the unfairness that many women were being exposed to. At this time she was a national training director with twenty-five years of experience. In its first year the business was profitable and it made nearly one million in the second year. The way that the business actually worked was that sales representatives termed ‘consultants’ bought the product from Mary Kay at wholesale prices and then sold them to their customers at retail prices. Any consultant who recruited another consultant earned commission. She made sure that these consultants avoided traditional sale territories to show the consumers she was not like everyone
