Who is Marylin Monroe and what did she do that changed America? Marilyn Monroe was an American actress, model, and singer. She is known for being a blonde bombshell and sex symbol of her time, this caused people to push aside the fact that she was an intelligent businesswoman. Marylin got into the entertainment industry when she was working in a factory during World War Two. She met a photographer that led her to modeling and movies. Becoming an actress allowed her to be a big influence on women in the workforce. Marylin overcame many obstacles in her life, from being in the foster care system when she was a child to working in a male-dominated space. When she was in Vogue magazines it helped open the eyes of Americans on what the body standards are, and that if a girl is pretty, they must be skinny. When Marylin showed in the famous magazines that she was not all skinny and perfect it helped the issue of body dysmorphia or when girls are just skinny to feel good about themself or even feel pretty. Marilyn Monroe even made the fashion industry make clothes more comfortable and positive for every body type.
