The periodic table is one one science's most known symbols. Do you know who made it? The creator was a chemist named Mendeleev. His dream was to organize chemistry in a better way. Using the Periodic table Mendeleev predicted the existence and properties of new chemical elements. The periodic table has helped scientists study the elements for over a hundred years. Mendeleev lived from 1834-1907. He was born February 8th 1834 in Verkhnie Aremzyani which is a Russian province in Siberia Russia. He may have had sixteen siblings but we don't know that number for sure. His father graduated from Saint Petersburg. His father went blind which caused his mom to reopen a glass factory that was started by his father. HIs father dies when Mendeleev was thirteen then the glass factory burned down when he was fifteen. By the age of sixteen he moved to Saint Petersburg where he attended college. He had a place at the university since they knew his father. There mendeleev studied to become a teacher. When he was twenty he was showing of his wits by publishing multiple research papers that were original work. He had tuberculosis so he often had to work from his bed. He graduated top of his class even though he was unpopular …show more content…
In 1860 Bunsen and his partner Gustav Kirchhoff discovered the element cesium using chemical spectroscopy which was a new method that they had developed, which Bunsen introduced Mendeleev to. Also in 1860, Mendeleev attended the first ever international chemistry conference, that took place in Karlsruhe, Germany. Most of the time was devoted to discussing the need to standardize chemistry. This conference was very important in Mendeleev’s eventual development of the periodic table. Mendeleev’s periodic table was based on atomic weights. He watched as the conference produced and agreed, the standardized method for determining these
