Imagine a society where books are forbidden and firemen start fire instead of distinguishing fire. Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian novel by Ray Bradbury, published in 1953. It is regarded as one of his best works. Throughout the book, Montag undergoes a series of changes. He goes from typical fireman who follows the authority to someone who challenges the authority. Many characters influenced Montag’s transformation, such as Clarisse, Faber and the unidentified woman whom he burned her house. Firstly Charisse made a great impact on Montag’s character. She is a peculiar character. She does not live up to the society’s standards. She enjoys doing odd activities such as staring at people, walking or watching the sunrise. In the beginning of the novel she asks Montag “ Are you happy?” (Bradbury 7). Montag never thought of the answer before. He was not ready for the thinking that the question desired.
