The Holocaust was a horrific occurrence in World War II for many Jews. More than 6 million Jews died in the Holocaust. Jews were tortured, forced to go to extermination camp and do force labors. Not many Jews survived the Holocaust, but many did with the help of Sir Nicholas Winton. He saved 669 Jewish children from Czechoslovakia and deported them through eight trains. The point of this research paper is to find how Sir Nicholas Winton saved so many Czech children’s lives. Nicholas homeland was England where he was born and lived with his family. Nicholas Winton was German Jewish as birth, but later was baptised. It states, “Nicholas Winton was born Nicholas Wertheimer on May 19, 1909, in West Hampstead, England, and baptized as a member of the Anglican Church by decision of his parents who were of German Jewish ancestry”(United States Holocaust Memorial Museum). The quote states that Nicholas Winton was born in England as German Jewish and last name as Wertheimer, but later he was baptised and changed their last name. Nicholas was oldest between his siblings. Just few years back, he had died. Winton got honors and awards from many countries. Burke states in his article that, “In 1939 was awarded the Order of the White Lion in Prague on Tuesday…. was presented with the award by President of the Czech Republic Milos Zeman…. Sir Nicholas was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003”(Burke). Sir Nicholas got awarded by Prague, President of the Czech and knighted by Queen of England. Sir Nicholas a great soul had died in 2015. McFadden states that, “Nicholas Winton … a righteous deed … died on Wednesday in Maidenhead, England. He was 106”(McFadden). The quote explains that Nicholas Winton, a great person, a hero, had died at the age of 106 in
