The Great Gatsby was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, whose writings were about The Jazz Age. Fitzgerald wrote The Great Gatsby about his relationship with his wife, Zelda. Fitzgerald became a drunk and his wife, jealous of his fame, went insane. The Great Gatsby was published on April 10, 1925. It is a story of love and betrayal about a man named James Gatz, later changed to Jay Gatsby, a poor child of hazy origins who eventually becomes very wealthy. The narrator, Nick Carraway, learns that Gatsby’s wealth and fame was all built on a lie.
Nick Carraway arrives in New York during the Roaring Twenties looking for the American dream. He moves into a small house next to Jay Gatsby, a millionaire, which is also across the bay from his cousin Daisy
