There was a huge truck bomb explosion on April 19, 1995 it happened outside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma city, Oklahoma. This bombing ended up leaving 168 people dead and and so many more injured. Timothy McVeigh was the one who set off this blast and was put to his death for these crimes in 2001. Timothy had a partner who's name was Terry Nichols and he ended up receiving life in prison. This tragic bombing was the worse attack from terrorist to have taken place on the United States soil, until September 11, 2001.

Osama Bin Laden was the 17th of 52 children born to Mohammed Bin Laden. In 1988 he created the group called al-Qaida and focused more on terrorist acts than military campaigns. He was the person responsible of the bombings of the U.S Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 and he also lead the attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center on September 1st 2001. Eventually on May 1, 2011,after being on the FBI’s “most wanted list”, Osama Bin Laden was invaded at his compound in Islamabad, close to Pakistan, and killed by American soldiers.
When the the Persian Gulf War was going on it was obvious that Bin Laden hated americans. In this interview he said “Every Muslim the minute he can start differentiating, carries hate towards Americans, Jews and Christians, this is part of our ideology. Ever since I can recall, I felt at war with the Americans and had feelings of animosity and hate towards them,”. He became mentally sick after the Persian Gulf War which made him angry and grudgeful which made him plan 911 to kill americans( Jonathan Mahler 1).
After the 9/11 attacks, America was devastated and distraught. America was in need of a leader. We needed someone to take us in and protect us, to make us feel safe again. George W. Bush (our president at this time) acted as our protector. He comforted America with his sympathetic words, but also managed to bring forth fear to the terrorist.
The attacks on September 11 produced a greater fear of terrorism than ever before. The masterminds responsible for the attacks on September 11 executed a plan that killed about three thousand people. Bin Laden was prompted by his prejudice against the United States, among multiple other reasons. After the attacks, many people showed a simple act of patriotism by flying the American flag.
The despot Saddam Hussein started the Iraq war, a warmonger who overthrew the government in Iraq. The Iraqi high tribunal, in coordination with the United States assassinated President Saddam Hussein on December 30, 2006 (Britannica, 1). The United States captured Hussein and he went on trial in front of the Iraqi High Tribunal for crimes, including the murdering of 148 Shi’iahs in the village of Dujail in 1982 (PBS, 23). The assassination of Saddam Hussein was just because he rose to political power and maintained it through violent means and was a war-hungry despot, looking to conquer the Middle East; however others believe that the United States viewed him as such and that he had good intentions in mind.
All of these events demonstrated that al-Qaeda could carry out terrifying attacks thousands of miles away from its base in Afghanistan. Al- qaeda’s leaders did not care about their gruesome actions. In their minds, God was on their side so they could do no wrong. Many people to this day still question our government about the 9/11 attacks and why someone did not take action before it got to this point.
