In the beginning of World War II, the Japanese made the United States go to war due to the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. They wanted to bomb the Pearl Harbor to try to make the US surrender because Japan and the US were arguing about taking over China. Also, we had all of the oil rich areas, therefore, Japan wanted to take over those because they were running low on oil resources. The Japanese was planning to bomb the United States at Pearl Harbor for a while because they realized that the bombs that were first invented had to dive down into the water so far before coming back up and destroying the ships.
The US thought they were ahead because the Japanese would not be able to bomb in that amount of shallow water, but the Japanese proved them wrong. This triggered anger throughout the country since most of the United States oil reserves and most of the naval fleet is stationed there. Since this event happened, the United States declared on the Axis Alliance. This lead to a series of events that will have changed the world forever in an irreversible way, including the use of the nuclear bombs that were dropped on Japan in the beginning of August. …show more content…

Truman wanted to move further into the plan and make Japan surrender. Japan did not want to surrender even after Truman warned that the US was coming anytime after August
