How Did Puritans Influence American Literature

Puritans had their own way of writing and speaking to people through their literature. They believed it should be easy to read and comprehend. They wanted to be very straight forward with all of the readers and strived to include God and instruction into it. With their distinctive ways of writing, they influenced the way American literature is taught and used today. The political changes began when the pilgrims decided to move to a New World. With them being in a new environment, they wrote mostly about what surrounded them which included the forests and the dangers in their new land. Later on the writings were more of religious views and instructions to the people. The people who wrote would tie God into their reasoning's for things.
