1. When Ramses ii ruled Ancient Egypt there were a lot of battles against the Hittites, Syrians, Libyans and Nubians. A major event that occurred when Ramses II was ruling was the Treaty of Kadesh (world’s first peace treaty) between the Hittites and the Egyptians. When Ramses II ruled there were many battles and it was a time of building. Ramses helped to build statues, temples and much more.

The cultural life under Ramses II was very interesting. Ramses II was most responsible for the erasing of the Armana period from history. He deliberately defaced the Armana monuments. Plus he changed the entire religious structure as well as that of the Priesthood. This was in order to try and bring everything back to the way it was before the reign of Akhenaten. The political life under Ramses II involved many battles and enemies. Ramses II came to rule over the largest empire known in the ancient world. He ruled territory from the African desert to the Mediterranean Sea. Seeing territory of this size was an advantage and a curse. The advantage was that it gave Ramses II power but the curse was that with the amount of territory Ramses ruled it brought many enemies causing much trouble throughout his kingdom. The social life under Ramses stayed the same throughout all the pharaohs. The social structure in Egypt was extremely solid: everyone knew where they stood in society and most accepted their position.
