The defense will argue that Richard did not plan to usurp the throne or kill his nephews, and the only reason he wanted Prince Richard removed from sanctuary was to give Edward V a companion his age. They will also argue that sanctuary is no place for a child, but all that does is bring the two princes together where Richard III would have a better chance to kill them, and take the throne. Seeing as the confession comes from Tyrell, the man who allegedly murdered the princes, More would have no reason to lie about the confession. While there is no record of Tyrell’s confession today, one must have existed because More claims to have used it as a source. Also, Henry VII divulged the contents of Tyrell’s confession to his trusted advisors. More also obtained some of his information from John Dighton who would have known intimate details of the murder. After the murder happened, rumors arose saying that the princes were murdered. Where would these rumors have come from if there were no witnesses? In regards to the actual murder of the princes, why would Richard III order Brackenbury to hand over the keys to the tower if his intention was not to have Tyrell kill Edward V and Prince
