The biography, Roberto Clemente, by Robert Kingsbury, is about the first Latin American to be inducted into the baseball hall of fame. Reberto experienced a lot of segregation and was treated very unfairly for both his talent of baseball and his ethnicity. He came from poverty in Puerto Rico and became one of the best baseball players in history. He influenced society in many ways, he influenced how Latin Americans were seen by major league baseball, and he also changed a lot in Puerto Rico.
The first influence Reberto had on society was he was the first Latin American baseball player in the major leagues to be inducted into the baseball hall of fame. On page 4, the author was talking about some of Robertos accomplishments and he says, “Clemente broke into the major leagues at a time when few men of color, and even fewer Hispanics, played the game.” Reberto made it possible for other Latin Americans to be seen for their talent and he paved the way for even more Latin American baseball players to play in the major leagues.

It may not seem like persevering through segregation is an influence on society but because he did so he was able to keep playing and make it to the hall of fame. That is where he made an influence. On page 69 the author said, “Every spring, Pirates players faced the humiliation of segregation during training camp in Florida.” He also said, “He would not be satisfied until all players were treated equally.” Reberto suffered through a lot of segregation to be able to play the sport he loved and he made it easier for others to receive less segregation. And he made baseball more
