Rock n Roll: Play back the Music! All there is, is a blank street… not a single sign of life. There is no color and no individuality… nothing. Buildings closely guard the the street stretching up to impossible heights. A single man walks out. His voice and his guitar echo onto the street. “I want to rock n roll all night… and party everyday! I want to rock n roll all night and party everyday.” Soon after two more walk up, their clothes, their stature look as though they are wild men. “I want to rock n roll all night… and party every day. I want to rock n roll all night and party every day.” The three voices join together harmoniously. Suddenly, the ground shakes… the street as they once knew it bursts with color. People out of nowhere join into the trio… The street rocks back and forth as citizens of Rock n Roll jump up and down. “I want to rock n roll all night and party every day. You keep on shoutin, you keep on shouting. I want to rock n roll all night and party every day.” Rock n Roll was a genre of music that brought people together from many diverse ethnic groups. Rock n Roll allowed many barriers put on minority groups to be overlooked. A well known minority group is women. “Women… asserted themselves in various ways in rock and roll culture” (“Gender in Rock n Roll”). Rock n Roll was deemed as a male-dominated, but changed (“Gender in Rock n Roll”). Rock n Roll was a time where whoever was the life of the party got the attention. Women quickly learned how to gain that attention through rebellion towards men and transferred those who followed the women to activists in women’s rights. Rock n Roll gave women a passageway to a life where females could do and say what they wanted
