In the story “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare the main theme of the story is, living in a world of deception and lies can cause the separation from the ones people love. For example an illogical decision made by the Friar. Friar Laurence made the decision to marry Juliet’s hand to Romeo's, making them husband and wife. In scene six of act 2 Friar Laurence states “You shall not stay alone, until the holy church incorporates the 2 of you into 1” (Shakespeare). Now, to explain. Romeo getting married to Juliet maybe took away some of the pain of his rejection. This is overall why I believe that Romeo and Juliet were making a decision based on emotions. When this action of the play happened it was the first tragedy, the death of royal blood, and a friend to Romeo. Mercutio was struck by Tybalt's sword and this was the start of the unfolding of the tragedy. The murder of Tybalt was such an important point of the book because of the actions that happened after it. This conflict created a lot of hate and stress to both Romeo and Juliet, which then led to them taking their own lives. This connects to my theme of Living in a world of deception and lies can cause the separation from the ones people love. In the end, Romeo misread the situation that Friar and Juliet had planned. This caused Romeo to act out and take his own life with a bottle of poison. Juliet woke up to see his body, and then she followed up with what Romeo had just done, and took her own life with his dagger. The main resolution of this story was the death of both Romeo and Juliet and how this all could have been avoided without living in lies.
