Decisions Not, Destiny
People always debate that the play “Romeo and Juliet”- written by William Shakespeare- could have had a better ending. That it was all due to “the stars’’ and it’s all destiny’s fault. No one has questioned this logic. People just went along with it because it’s just a story but that doesn't make sense.``Testing” destiny and trying to work around it would still make it destiny. This story does the exact opposite of proving the stars are to blame and cannot prove that the stars were the cause for everything.
Romeo’s first choice was to invite himself to the Capulet party. The Capulet family was hosting a party and Romeo’s love interest, Rosaline, was invited. Due to Romeo being a Montague, he is not invited but he sneaks in anyways. The text states “I’ll go along, no such sight to be shown/But to rejoice in splendor of my own '' (I.ii.100). He is well aware that going to the party is dangerous and downright ignorant. However, his love for Rosaline overshadows his judgment. It was just a coincidence that Rosaline happened to be on the party list. If she wasn’t invited to the party, Romeo would have never made the decision to go.

She thinks that by taking the potion, there could be several bad outcomes to the situation. The play states “Romeo, Romeo, Romeo, I drink to thee” (IV.iii.58). Juliet goes to take the potion that the Friar gave her to go through with their plan. Their plan is for Juliet to marry Paris, drink to potion to fake her death, and run off with Romeo when she wakes up. Destiny had nothing to do with her decision process.
