First off Franklin Roosevelt aggressively formulated programs and took decisive action to expand role of government. Delegation led to enhanced powers, and Supreme Court eventually allowed the New Deal; power was given to FDR because of the economic crisis of the Great Depression. The New Deal did nothing to ensure that rights guaranteed to all Americans via the Constitution, such as the right to vote and the right to a fair trial, were guaranteed to blacks. Because of this President Roosevelt had to greatly increase the responsibilities of his office. Franklin Roosevelt believed in stretching the presidential powers.
Franklin Roosevelt was a very influential and important president in American history who had an immense impact on the American economy and social policy during the 1930’s and 40’s and throughout the future of America, he also shared some ideas with the author John Steinbeck. He idolized Theodore Roosevelt, and took great inspiration from him. He has served as president for longer than any other president in history, serving for three terms instead of the usual two that is generally accepted as the maximum amount of time that a president can serve. He drove America out of the great depression and through the second world war.

Roosevelt’s presidency opened up creativity of progressive movement, lending the prestige of the White House to welfare legislation, government regulation, and the conservation movement.
Prior to losing the election of 1912, he helped the U.S with by doing anything he could to uphold America and its citizens. He also aided in American access to the Panama Canal. On economical terms, Roosevelt was the trust-buster, breaking all of the bad trusts in big businesses. He also was the president who enforced the Sherman Antitrust Act. Socially, he preserved millions of acres of land, entitling citizens to interact and have leisure time, and wildlife to prosper.
By believing in this power he was able to make transformations in the federal government which are still useful today and many people are happy because of his works. There are two major ways that Theodore Roosevelt transformed the role and responsibility of the federal government. The first transformation made was the reservation of the natural resources which were being abused and used to benefit only few people. This was quite different from what those before him had done Theodore Roosevelt as a president was able to secure more than two hundred and thirty million acres of land which would be reserved for the benefits of the society rather than individual benefits. While he is most popularly known as the president who successfully led America through the Great Depression, creating many beneficial programs known as the New Deal, all doing this while being terribly stricken with polio and spending part of his presidential term in a wheelchair until his eventual death because of the same disease. Out of many of his great acts, his most notable aspect was his ability to unite America, a country often divided of opinion, against a common ally to better the country. His speech, The Pearl Harbor Address to the Nation, was given during a very difficult time of American history. Despite the despicable tragedy that had just struck Hawaii exactly one day before the given speech, Roosevelt had the ability to remind the American people of their bravery and perseverance. His ultimate goal was to convince Congress to declare war on Japan, which they did exactly that literally minutes after Roosevelt gave his famous speech.
Once Roosevelt was elected president and was in the office he began his transformation of the federal government. Roosevelt’s philosophy was things would get better by him taking charge. This inspired his theory of the New Deal. He believed we did not need to go into war mode to recover from the Great Depression. Roosevelt reformed the Stock Market, gave aid to the unemployed, induced agricultural and industrial recovery, and helped the banking system.
Roosevelt also got the legislative approval for stricter laws on food and drug. His “square deal” program focused on helping the average American’s when most of the nation’s wealth was controlled by the wealthy one percent of the population. The union supported by Lincoln spiked the war which Roosevelt fought. At the end of the war, America emerged the most superior state through Roosevelt’s rule. He also ended the worst crisis in American history through what is known as the New Deal. In this deal, Roosevelt made financial reforms like the regulation of taxes which helped America out of the great depression. His proposal provided relief to those who had been suffering from the national loss that the Great Depression caused. Unlike Hoover, Roosevelt wanted to be involved with America’s businesses and citizens. This solution permanently changed the way the federal government dealt with U.S. citizens.
During his presidency, Franklin D. Roosevelt, or FDR, had a major impact on how the government functions and how the U.S economy functions as well as other affairs with other countries. President Roosevelt also helped reshape how the presidency is and what they many do. With his New Deal that he implemented during the Great Depression, he went for reform, giving jobs to those who were in need of it (Whitehouse.gov Staff, 2006). He also set up a few new policies with his New Deal, which passed a few acts that would help the United States stabilize. There were criticisms that Franklin D. Roosevelt had faced as he was passing his New Deal programs, but he was able to get around them with some of them and work towards having successful programs
