On March 29, 1918, Thomas & Nancy Walton of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, gave birth to a son named Samuel Moore “Sam” Walton. At a young age, Sam began working various jobs gaining valuable knowledge of how hard work would lead to being successful. Sam was the youngest person to achieve Eagle Scout at the age of 13. Sam continued to carry the ethics of working hard to the University. Of Missouri and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Economics. Three years in the Army, he reached the rank of Captain and married Helen Robson. With the assistance of his father-in-law, Sam’s aspirations of owning a business began to take shape and by 1954, Sam owed 16 stores in partnership with his brother.
