Dreaming In Stalin's Russia As I pull the door open I feel the dark depressing breeze blow into my face, bringing me chills from head to toe. A man barely standing, struggles to look up, asks me, “food..please”. I give him a small piece of bread that was in my pocket. As he slowly reaches for the domino sized bread, he collapses. Silence is all I hear, with a helpless tear running down my face. Today Stalin is coming to give a speech, everyone in the town must attend. We were all once wealthy, having enough food to feed our families. Now we, the “bourgeoisie” class is going down, and the peasants are supposed to rise. “We are nothing right now, compared to all other rich and wealthy countries WE are garbage. This is why we all must obey what I say, because communism will be the only way to make us modern. I know right now we all are depressed, trust me, I am too. But in five years from now, I promise you, we will officially have factories, cars, and all the fancy things other countries have that we don’t, I already have my men working on it”. Everyone claps and fakes a smile, except for one man who fell asleep listening to our “leader”. Stalin orders one of his men to wake him up and bring him to the stage for everyone to see. “Hope you had a good nap, and this my friends, is the type of person you do not want to be, SEND HIM TO THE GULAGS!
