American History has changed how we live our lives today. There are numerous amounts of important people that changed many lives. Susan B. Anthony, Hellen Keller, and Jane Adams are three feminists that changed lives in an unbelievable way. Susan B. Anthony was an important female that changed lives. She was born February 15th, 1820 in Adams, Massachusetts. She grew up in a casual household with two loving parents and six siblings. Her father, Daniel Anthony was a stern man that was strongly opinionated about guidance through life, causing the Anthony household to not have toys, or any amusing objects. She was born June 27, 1880 in Tuscumbia, Alabama. She grew up with loving parents just like Susan B. Anthony. At the age of nineteen months, Helen became very ill with “brain fever” or otherwise known as scarlet fever. The scarlet fever was so violent, it caused her to be deaf and blind. That did not stop her parents from pushing her to communicate with others (Helen Keller FAQ). Until the seven years old, Hellen communicated with people through hand gestures. She developed anger issues from her incapability to communicate and express what she wanted or how she was feeling. Soon after age 7, her parents hired Anne Sullivan to teach Hellen how to speak, read lips, and read braille. Anne would run Hellens hand under water, and then make symbols into her hand and from that point on, Hellen was learning how to properly communicate with others (Luen04). Later in her life, Hellen went to college to study politics and world events. After she graduated school, she joined the women’s rights suffrage and assisted people who were blind, and people who were deafblind. Hellen was a strong supporter of women’s rights, and she opposed child labor. But most importantly, Hellen created programs for blind people and deafblind people. She was reorganized and earned many awards, but one of the most important awards she earned was the presidential medal of freedom (Helen Keller FAQ).
