Sushi and pizza How is sushi taking over Japan like pizza is taking over america. Sushi is a famous food in Japan and a businessman named Noritoshi Kanai brought the idea to America. Sushi was a big hit in Japan but it didn’t take off in America at first. Not until Americans started traveling to Japan did the love for sushi become a fad. At first Americans didn’t like the thought of eating what sushi was made out of, but with the help of a Japanese restaurant owner they were able to change the way Americans felt about the food. This wasn’t the only food from other countries that made a big impact in America. Frank Mastro helped bring food from Italy to America that is loved by everyone. Mastro is known to be the King of pizza. Back then pizza was not as easy to enjoy as we do today. Mastro also invented his pizza oven that made this food more convenient. During the Great depression many Americans were struggling to make ends meet. Frank Mastro made a big change by introducing an Italian favorite to the states. Pizza was not an easily prepared food due to the ovens they used but Mastro was determined to change this. Inventing his own oven and developing a restaurant where they prepared pizza in front of the customer he was able to make pizza a American favorite. Not only did he make pizza a favorite, he provided jobs with instruction on how to open and run your own pizzeria.
