The American Revolutionary War occurred April 19, 1775 – September 3, 1783. The American Revolutionary War stemmed from arising tensions between 13 of Great Britain’s North American colonies (original 13 colonies of the United States of America) and the British crown. The divide was fueled from the fact that Britain attempted to grasp a controlling hold on the 13 colonies. They did so by enforcing tax against the colonies in the form of: The Stamp Act of 1795, the Townshend Tariffs of 1767 and the famous Tea Act of 1773 (Sailus). After the meeting leaders of the 13 colonies meet and determined that action needed to be taken hence the American Revolutionary War; the war that brought on total political developments and religious freedom. Colonist came to discover, to make money, populate and practice their religion freely. William Bradford lead a group named The Separatist away from England in order to start their own settlement in order to practice their religion freely after a church called the Church of England was forced upon all residents of England. The settlers planned on making profit by utilizing (or abusing to some) the natural resources of the newfound land (Binder & Reimers, 2013). The group was not as successful as planned due to the season of arrival (winter) which lead to disease and famine; as the settlers had difficulty finding and growing food and developing shelter. Majority of the original settlers dies before the next group of settlers, lead by John Winthrop, called the Puritans settled in New England. Once again, the colony was founded in order to religious freedom. The Puritans desired to make changes to the Church of England but, the Church did not approve; King Charles I would enforce penalty for all those that went against his orders.
