The 1960’s were one of the best times in music history. The Beatles were founded and became very popular in the 60’s, too. The Beatles also happen to be one of the most popular bands in rock and roll history and continue to influence music of today. While most everyone knows the songs such as Here Comes the Sun and Hey Jude, not many people know how the band came together and rose to such popularity. In the beginning, The Beatles weren't all friends. John Lennon was originally in a band called The Quarrymen with his schoolmate Pete Shotton when they were 17. Eventually after recruiting a few more friends, in July of 1957 The Quarrymen had a five piece lineup. On July 6, 1957, The Quarrymen played a show at the Garden Fete at St. Peter’s Church. A mutual friend of both John and Paul McCartney, Ivan Vaughn, brought Paul who was 15 years old at the time, to see The Quarrymen play. After the show ended, Paul was introduced to John and played the song Twenty Flight Rock on the guitar for him. John was impressed by Paul’s playing and asked him to join the band a few weeks later.
